Mixed Media Artist

Timeline - Evolution of the Artist
1995 - 2004

Rose worked as a choreographer, ballerina and stage designer in Brazil from 1976 to 1994. This experience led her to pursue an extensive career as a visual artist in the United States. Over the years, Rose has produced more than 1,000 artworks.
The mixed-media collage entitled Faces and Mouths represents Rose's debut on the American art scene. Notably, this work is squarely within the style of symbolism.
In the mid-1990’s, driven to explore different means of artistic expression, Rose combined new techniques and tools with traditional media such as mixing watercolor, charcoal and gouache and applying it on unconventional surfaces.
Between 2001 and 2004, Rose’s passion for Brazilian culture led her to start a new body of work entitled Brazilian Folklore, which continues to be part of her broad artistic repertoire. In this series, Rose uses assemblage, mixed media, and music to describe everyday situations in Brazil, in theatrical, symbolic and poetic ways.
Rose's Brazilian Folklore series evokes “playful feelings” through music and rhythms coming from various regions of Brazil. The Baião, Xaxado, Forró, Samba, Jongo and other Brazilian musical styles are chosen by the artist for each work.

2005 to Present

Rose is also active in the community. She is the founder of the Brazilian Consulate Gallery (BCG) inside the Brazilian Consulate in Los Angeles. Since its inception in 2005, the BCG has offered a new exhibition opportunity for Brazilian artists living in the United States. The gallery displays works by painters, sculptors, photographers, writers and other artists utilizing various types of media.
Rose also presents art workshops for children in public schools in Los Angeles and Brazil. In these workshops, she advances the concept of using recyclable materials as a form of preserving the environment.
