Profile
Rose Lobo was born in Rio de Janeiro during the Carnival. She has been living and working as a fine artist in Los Angeles, California, for the past 25 years.
Rose’s artistic expression reflects her fascination with the customs, mythology and folklore of Brazil, inspiring her to create art grounded in allegory, symbolism, and the surreal, no matter her choice of medium. As a modern expressionist, Rose’s creations include collages, mixed media works, paintings, sculptures, assemblages, and installations.
For Rose, art is like the Carnival, a chaotic explosion of feelings steeped in the unconscious. She believes that these eruptions of feelings come in waves like a heart-beat, expanding and contracting until the work reaches its final rhythm, its most precious evolution.
Her background and love of music and dance influences the sense of design and composition in her work. She draws from all materials and ideas, both conscious and unconscious, to create her exciting and unique art.
